Agenda : Researching Emma Massey's marriage to Alfred M. O'Neal in Kanawha County 1885. Bible Verse of the Day:                   Judges 4:6, 7 "She sent for Baʹrak the son of A·binʹo·am out of Keʹdesh-naphʹta·li and said to him: “Has not Jehovah the God of Israel given the command? ‘Go and march to Mount Taʹbor, and take 10,000 men of Naphʹta·li and Zebʹu·lun with you. I will bring to you Sisʹe·ra, the chief of Jaʹbin’s army, along with his war chariots and his troops to the stream of Kiʹshon, and I will give him into your hand.’” Getting the Point: Some people may get something different from reading in today's text but I find it comforting to see how Jehovah God highly esteems women in today's Chapter.  Deborah was a Prophetess and  Ja'el the wife of He'ber was the one w...

I was looking through some "O'NEAL" life events that occurred during the month of July and wanted to highlight the ones I ran across. While searching I ran across the birth of Lucinda O'Neal Spurlock.  Lucinda was born on July 18, 1887. she was the daughter of Alfred O'NEAL and Emily Massey O'Neal. She was born in Winifred, Kanawha County West Virginia.  The funny thing is if you go to the Kanawha County birth records you won't find a record of her birth. Her death certificate h...

Bible Verse of the Day: "But even if you did marry, you would commit no sin. And if a virgin married, such a person would commit no sin. However, those who do will have tribulation in their flesh. But I am trying to spare you." Getting the Point: What tribulation was Paul referring to? It is hard to say. He was making the point that it's hard enough as it is so not to take on more responsibility of a mate if you are able to go it alone. There will no doubt be struggles in singleness and in marriage but if you are married you have children or a lack of children, you have sickness and death, you have in-laws to deal with. You have more to worry about and your love will be decided. He was offering his opinion on should a Christian marry. Jehovah God felt it necessary to have those words preserved in his word for a reason. Letter From The Editor: Dear Reader, This edition was supposed to have been posted prior to this. I keep missing my deadline. I have been trying to r...

The O'NEAL Times                  July 15, 2019 Bible Verse of the Day:                 Titus 2:3,4 " Likewise, let the older women be reverent in behavior, not slanderous, not enslaved to a lot of wine, teachers of what is good,so that they may advise the younger women to love their husbands, to love their children," Getting the point: Many people think that a woman's place is at home. This scripture shows that they can be teachers of what is good as well as being a mother and wife. Their conduct will have a bearing as to wether or not their teaching will reach the heart of their listeners. They can't teach one thing and do another. Also, notice that women should teach other women how they should behave. Much as a father would teach his son the family tr...
