Lucinda O'NEAL Spurlock

Dear Readers,

In today's edition we will be looking at the birth of Lucinda O'Neal. I was looking through some "O'NEAL" life events that occurred during the month of July and wanted to highlight the ones I ran across. While searching I ran across the birth of Lucinda O'Neal Spurlock. 

Lucinda was born on July 18, 1887. she was the daughter of Alfred O'NEAL and Emily Massey O'Neal. She was born in Winifred, Kanawha County West Virginia.  The funny thing is if you go to the Kanawha County birth records you won't find a record of her birth. Her death certificate however gives her date of death as well as her date of birth. The problem with that is that she has a sister named  Almedia O'Neal (Cooper) and she was born on the same day. First thing I thought of was ohthey were twins.!

When you look at the Federal Census of 1900 the one taken when they would have appeared together the census seems to indicate that Almedia was younger than Lucinda. Some people have recorded Almedia and Lucinda as one person but they were clearly sisters. I checked Almedia's death certificate and her date of birth was recorded as the same. Because two records outweigh one I'm thinking they must have been twins!

I am not related that close so perhaps someone who is much more familiar with the family might have an opinion on this.

Carl Dean "Dolly Parton's husband "

I'm kinda new to the Country Music scene. I have written a few songs and I'm trying to get them demo ready. I'm hoping to promote  them to some big city Nashville executives" soon but honestly I could care less who buys them or records them as long as I get paid.
