Carl Dean "Dolly Parton's husband "

I'm kinda new to the Country Music scene. I have written a few songs and I'm trying to get them demo ready. I'm hoping to promote  them to some big city Nashville executives" soon but honestly I could care less who buys them or records them as long as I get paid.

That being said I'd love to get one of my songs in the public eye. Dolly Parton had a song she wrote go above and beyond her expectations entitled "Jolene". She says she wrote that song because of her husband. I guess maybe at the time she was jealous of this Jolene. I don't know.

I hope one of my songs ends up doing that well too. I saw last night where Carl Dean passed away. My wife and I will have been married 35 years come November 3rd of this year. Carl and Dolly had been married for nearly 60 years. My heart goes out to the family.

My wife recently suffered from two strokes I'm 52 and she's 73 so suffering the loss of part of my better half cant compare to a total loss but it changes you. I wanted to express my heartfelt expression of sympathy.

We are planning a second honeymoon this year and I'm hoping to make it a huge deal somehow. Hopefully I can sell a song to finance a cruise or something.

In this new world of Ai you can find out anything real quick by just asking a question. Once I realized that Carl Dean had passed away I thought what was his last name? You know me "The researcher in me" kicked in. So I went to Ai and asked it a question.

Tell me about carl Dean Dollys husband.

Based on the information available, here's what I can tell you about Carl Dean, Dolly Parton's husband:

Relationship:
He was Dolly Parton's husband of nearly 60 years.
They met on the day Dolly moved to Nashville, when she was 18, outside a laundromat.
They married on May 30, 1966, in Ringgold, Georgia.

Privacy:
Carl Dean maintained a very private life, staying largely out of the public eye.
This has been a very defining characteristic of his life and his relationship with Dolly Parton.

Career:
He was a businessman, having owned an asphalt-paving business in Nashville.

Personal details:
He passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025 in Nashville, Tennessee. At the age of 82.
He is survived by Dolly Parton, and two siblings.

I'll stop there did you notice under personal details nothing about his last name.

Stupid me you know why? His last name was Dean his full name was Carl Thomas Dean. That is me being pure country and from the south. I could hear Dolly in my head or his momma talking about Carl and you know when you get in trouble they call you by your middle name. All this time because his life was so private I thought it was a secret and Dean just didn't register as a last name to me.

I had to just ask the question differently and I typed that right into Google. My point is I wanted to research his family tree seeing as he passed away. Why? You might wonder? I create keepsakes for family and friends and someday I might meet Dolly and I'd like to have a small gift to present her with and one of my creations might be perfect. It would be personal and. it's something she might actually treasure.

In the meantime I recorded a cover of Jolene and I figured perhaps maybe she might wonder how that song impacted my life. As a song writer there is nothing more amazing than seeing your song bring a smile or a tear to someones eye. I think it would be neat to actually see me perform her song before I really got into the busines. If your curious about my singing you can see it too it's on my YouTube channel like follow and share!

Speaking of business I have written two songs inspired by my wife Barbara Ann O'Neal so for the record my songs are "Her Green Eyes Were Capivating" and "Sometimes she forgets who I am". Yes, they are for sale! You can hear a rough demo on my YouTube page.
