LETTER FROM THE EDITOR:

Dear Readers,

I'd like to introduce you to the hardest working woman I know other than my sister-n-law (Louise Bishop) but that's another story.

This picture was taken on December 16, 2016. It's one of the oldest pictures on my phone. Incase you don't who this is, this is my fourth cousin "Bunny" otherwise known as Mylinda Perdue. She is one of the managers at the Mullens West Virginia Dairy Queen. She's been working there for over thirty years. What you might not know is she works two jobs. She also works at the Family Dollar. You might also not be aware that after all these years she has no health insurance and is in need of a knee replacement or possibly two. Yet, six days a week she works from 5:00 am to sometimes 11:00 p.m. 

She used to be a stranger to me. I didn't even know she existed until my aunt Patty Hatcher got me a job at the Dairy Queen back in 2009. Then I found out she was my fourth cousin. She eventually became more like my sister and I call her that still and I love her. I recently had to go back to the Dairy Queen and work part-time. She's still there and as hard at as always. 

I wanted to delete my old  photos off my phone but when I pulled this up I thought maybe I could do something with it. I attached it to my family tree photos but then I thought maybe I should share it with the world. It's not my best photo it's not even flattering but it tells a story. It's the holiday season and she's likely making a hot dog the one thing she hates to do the most and it's after her shift is about over and yet here she is at her station and even still displaying her holiday spirit. 

Did I mention that the Dairy Queen has changed hands three times and she's been there through each transition. How much do you think she gets an hour? She makes less than you would imagine. I've begged her to find other employment but she's loyal or hard headed or both!

If you go to the Dairy Queen in Mullens ask for Bunny and tell her "Thank You" and slip her a few dollars, she deserves it! Just say I appreciate you!

Carl Dean "Dolly Parton's husband "

I'm kinda new to the Country Music scene. I have written a few songs and I'm trying to get them demo ready. I'm hoping to promote  them to some big city Nashville executives" soon but honestly I could care less who buys them or records them as long as I get paid. That being said I'd love to get one of my songs in the public eye. Dolly Parton had a song she wrote go above and beyond her expectations entitled "Jolene". She says she wrote that song because of her husband. I guess maybe at the time she was jealous of this Jolene. I don't know. I hope one of my songs ends up doing that well too.
