Letter From the Editor:
Dear Reader,
I was researching the O'Neal life events for September 3rd in the past and I had a hard time finding one. I finally found a record of a birth that took place back in 1938. The O'Neal in question was a Donna O'Neal. She was an O'Neal for fifty-two years. Prior to that she was a Dotson. I can't say I remember ever meeting her but I knew her husband "Bob" fairly well. He always came up to my sister-n-law's house. I used to spend a lot of time up there and so I knew him. What I wasn't aware of though was his wife's name. I may have heard it but I never recall meeting her and when I found a record of her burial on-line I found it hard to believe that she had died that long ago. This edition was created in her honor.
I got to proofread this letter and I noticed I forgot to mention that the obituary I found on-line said she was buried in the Moran Cemetery up on Bud, Mountain. I wasn't aware of any Cemetery by that name. I believe we always called that cemetery the Lusk cemetery. If anyone knows where she's buried I'd like to know if it's the same cemetery. I think it would be nice to have a photo of her and Bob's headstone as well to post in this edition of the newsletter.
Sincerely
Ray A. O'Neal

Questions Unanswered:
Scripture of the Day:
Mathew 3:6
"and they were baptized by him in the Jordan River, openly confessing their sins."
Cross-references:
Mark 1:9"In the course of those days, Jesus came from Nazʹa·reth of Galʹi·lee and was baptized in the Jordan by John."
Getting the Point:
Many go to their places of worship and feel the need to repent and get baptized. That is a good thing. However, it's not going under the water that makes you approved by God it's the act of true repentance or turning around that makes one clean. The water immersion is just the outward symbol of the first step in becoming someone new. It's also important for us to realize that Jesus himself was baptized although he had no sins to confess yet his baptism was one of dedication to God as an act of showing his heartfelt desire to do God's will. When we get baptized it's like a promise to God that we will stop living for ourselves and start living for him and the doing of his will.
