The O'Neal Times
Wyoming County Is Edition
August 31, 2013
Letter From the Editor:
Dear Reader,
It's August 31, 2019. Today is Saturday. I was looking online to see if there was an O'Neal life event recently and I found. Jesse O'Neal from Barker's Ridge and his wife Melissa Hess O'Neal mentioned in an old obituary. Melissa's brother's Martin Hess had died in 2016 but his birthday was on August 31, 1948.
I wasn't exactly sure who this Jessie and Melissa was but figured some of my readers might. I'm sure I have met Mr. Martin Hess several times at work because his face seemed awfully familiar. I was surprised to seeI had missed the obituary back in 2016. I have included the full obituary and also a link to where I found it in the picture section of today's newsletter.
Obituaries:
Martin Earl Hess, 67, of Stephenson gained his angel wings and went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, July 29, 2016 in a Virginia hospital following a long illness.
Born August 31, 1948 at Balls Creek, Welch, WV he was the son of the late Martin R. and Susie (Jarrell) Hess.
Martin was a mechanic and he loved to tinker with lawn mowers. He loved his cats, talking on CB Radio, and talking to his buddies every morning at the post office. Martin enjoyed walking and picking up cans. He also loved collecting metal and antique cars.
In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by one sister, Diana Sue Hess.
Those left to cherish his memory include four sisters, Rita Myers of Stephenson, Melissa O'Neal and her husband, Jessie of Barkers Ridge, Phyllis Green of Stephenson, and Debbie Cecil of Stephenson; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.
Services will be 12 Noon, Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel, Mullens with Rev. Ernest Dunford officiating. Entombment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Beckley.
Friends may call one hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home.

Scripture of the Day:
Mark 10:9 "Therefore, what God has yoked together, let no man put apart.”
Cross-references:
Mathew 19:6 "So that they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has yoked together, let no man put apart.”
Getting the point:
When God instituted marriage between Adam and Eve, he did not make provision for dissolving their marriage.
