Hey buddy can you spare a dime?

Image
The last stupid thing I did So, I fell asleep after working three shifts without much if any. Just when I thought everything was going to start looking up. So now I have to figure out how to get out of the negative with my financial institution. Pay my car insurance premium due tomorrow. Pay the water bill to keep it from getting cut off. Pay the Gas bill and deposit so they will come hook us back up. Pay the car payment due again tomorrow when I'm a month behind still.  I just had friends bail me out financially a month ago or  a few months ago. How will I get another car to get to these two jobs that obviously are not paying the bills? I'm still dealing with my wife and her strokes and I can't really take much more. If you can spare a  dime Send this link to all your contacts and say can you show my friend some love?

Laundrymat

Image
We had to go to the Laundromat yesterday. We have a dryer but somehow during the remodel we lost the cover to the outlet. I went to lowes to buy a new one but after I got home I realized I bought the three prong outlet when I needed a four prong outlet. When did plugs start coming with four prongs anyway? So, four loads of laundry later we needed to do some laundry. I was happy to learn that there is a new Laundromat in town ( Mullens, West Virginia. So, we went down there to dry two loads. It's new so it was clean. Washers cost $3.75 and dryers cost $4.00. There are only four of each.  The heater was not on and it was freezing. There is no T.V. or restroom. I don't need any of those things but it would make the experience easier to bear. Barb was complaining about the cold the whole time. I found t.v.'s on sale for black Friday . The owner might want to think of buying one. How or where he could place it where it wouldn't get damaged or stolen I have no ide...

I needed tires!

Image
I needed tires because we had not one but two flats. You may have already heard the ordeal I had to go through to get tires. What you may not know is I got them at C. Adam Toney in Beckley,  West Virginia. I got a decent deal. I even bought the warranty. Hopefully I won't need it but it's good for three years! If you need tires you might go ahead and buy them online and have them delivered. I went to two garages and neither of them even had tires to fit my Chevy Trax! While we were sitting there waiting to get our tires put on Pamela and Josh Stover of Bud, West Virginia came in. Pam was my sister n law when she was narried to Barb's brother's.  They were in there getting tires too. We were discussing how cheap they were compared to Walmart. Walmart wanted me to order them and they were going to cost $135.00 a tire. I only paid $81.00 a tire. Here is my link to tires on Amazon ! Check it out! I might get compensated at no extra cost to you so please click a...

Hoofing it!

Letter from the Editor: Dear Fans, Feet Don't Fail me Now....... So when you have to work and you have two flats and it's a Sunday you either call in or you walk. Why did I walk? It wasn't that far, I need the money, and being dependable is written into my D.N.A. Thing is we had no heat so I had to walk to the store carrying a propane tank exchange it then walk back home. Rest for an hour then walk back to work. The upside I had time to write one verse of my newest song. Problem is I'll forget the tune tomorrow. Also, I got a ride home! It's 10:30 at night and all I can think about is being late for work tomorrow and having to walk into town to get a tire fixed. I know I'm going to have to call in likely because the garage is not going to be in a hurry to squeeze me in their rotation. The boss has already texted wondering what time I'm likely to show up. The best part of the day was I had to leave Barb home alone again and she made out fine. When...

Flat Tire?

Image
Letter from the Editor: Dear Fans, I had one of those days yesterday. Problem is it's flowing over into today and likely tomorrow! I had to leave my wife home alone for the first time without a sitter. I asked her to just rest or sleep all day I'd be home early. I also figured she'd call or text me during the day.  By noon I was more than worried. I had texted, I called and no answer. Usually she calls me at least twice or texts me. I finally left work early but after 1:00. When I got home around 2:00 she had just gotten up and was looking for her phone! She survived her first day home alone.  I wanted to take her to dinner so we went downtown to Second Street Station. It's our little local restaurant. It's her choice, not mine but it was her turn to pick. She wanted to try their fish dinner. I opted for a pizza. During our dinner a stranger informed me I had not one but two flat tires! She had wanted to go shopping so that ruined her night. ...

Laundry Room Blinds

Image
Letter From the Editor: Dear Fans, As you might have heard I've been on this new journey trying to establish my music career as a Country Artist/SongWriter. One of my songs is sitting in Nashville. I'm waiting to see if it wins the song contest. I'll win $20,000. You might wonder what would I would do with the money? I'd like to get my songs on a demo album for one but mostly I'd like to fix up our house. My wife has suffered two massive strokes this year and has a lot of left side weakness. In the middle of all that we had a major water leak that ruined three floors in our house.  It's needing a complete remodel. We finally bought a set of new blinds for the laundry room. If we were to ever get any company they could stand at the door and see right  into our bathroom. The old set looked ragged and poor. As you can see the room isn't finished. We still have paint and a partial wall to fix and the panel box needs fixed along with the fact that we ...

Day One

Image
Day One  Yesterday I got the news that my stepmother passed away. She had been having a lot of health issues over the last year so it wasn't a total shock but it wasn't expected either. It made me stop and examine and evaluate my life.  I will be turning 51 in a few days and I want the next 50 years to be better than the last 50. That means I needed to make some changes. So I posted a decent picture of me on my social media page with the words. I started a new journey and nothing else. I got a few comments and by a few I mean four. What they didn't know was it was an announcement to the world that I had started not only a new career but I had also decided to work on a new me. A career is nothing really, so that's not important, but living your best life is.  I chose a photo that I felt was maybe my best photo that I had of me on my phone. This photo was taken right after I had finally got comfortable with going to work without my bottom teeth. You can't ...

The O'Neal Times Fan & Family Newsletter  Dear Readers, I was trying to figure out which songs in the top ten  was most memorable for me back in 1990.  I think it was a tie again. I loved Garth Brooks song " The Dance " and the Alabama's song " Jukebox in my Mind ".  It's interesting though that 1990 was the year I lost my best friend and Uncle, (Billy O'Neal) in a terrible car accident.  I also graduated, got engaged and married my new Best Friend,  Barbara Ann Lester. The song for our first dance played at our reception was by Ann Murray, " Can I have this Dance. " I wonder what song was memorable for you in 1990? If you happen to have wedding pictures of me and Barb we'd love to see them. Sincerely, RAY ALLEN  MEMORY CARD:                    Bill O'Neal                    1969-1990 GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN!

1988 When You say Nothing at all

Image
The O'Neal Times  A Family Newsletter  -------------------------------------------------- Letter From the Editor: Dear Reader, In 1988 the #2 song of the year was by Keith Whitley " When you say nothing at all ". I loved that song. The number one Country song of that year I barely  remember entitled "Perfect" by Fairground Attraction. In my opinion it was just an ok song. It didn't even ring a bell.  I looked to see where my cover of Keith's song was in the starmaker rankings and I wasn't even listed. So I found I had sang the song in Allison Krause version. I still wasn't in the rankings. I've since added a cover song of his version.  Sincerely, RAY Allen  Memory Card of the Day:                Velma L. Forever and Ever Amen

Image
The O'Neal Times  WYOMING COUNTY Edition  Family Newsletter  ________________________________ Letter From the Editor: Dear Readers, In 1987 Randy Travis had the biggest country hit of the year with Forever and Ever. I remember hearing that song so much I got tired of it. It was a great song but sometimes I just get tired of hearing the same thing over and over. You listen to the radio today and you'll here the same ten songs all day long. I looked at the songs that hit the top 100 of that year and the song that jumped out to me was Do Ya by K T Oslin. I think my sister listened to her cassette over and over and it grew on me. I also loved fishing in the dark by the nitty gritty dirt band. I've added a link to my cover of Forever and ever Amen  by Randy Travis. Like, Follow, tweet, Share, comment! Sincerely,  Ray Allen Memory Card of the Day;         Laura E. Digging Up Bones

Image
Letter From the Editor: I thought back to the summer of 1986. That's when I started learning to play the guitar. If I didn't have to work I was in my bedroom listening to my cassette tape of Randy Travis. We got to go to PA that summer and see him in person. We bought his cassette tape and I wanted to learn how to play and sing his songs. He was my favorite other than George Jones. My sister was listening to Reba McEntire.  I found a recording of me singing his hit Digging up Bones but my favorite song on that album was actually the title of that album "The Storms of life". About Me: I'm just a country boy looking to pay some bills. I'm not in the yellow pages or white pages so here is my card! How can I help? Welcome to my Blog!  I am a singer/songwriter. I love Country music. I am starting my new career late in life at 50! I actually just recently decided to make the next 50 years count. I've been cooking in restaurants most of my life but recently found myself having to take care of my spouse and unable to work. I don't have many fans or followers but I also have no social media presence either. I am hoping to journal my new adventures. I live in a rural community and that means not even a red light. It's hard to reach the masses from Mullens West Virginia. However, Bill Withers grew up not far from here in Slabfork, and he was successful.  Hobbies   I love cutting grass, and working out as well as writing newsletters regarding my O'Neal Genealogy. My first Job

Image
The first job I ever had was working for Vera Swadley a retired teacher as her dishwasher in South Bethany Beach, Delaware at the age of 13. She paid me under the table for four months until I turned 14. I ended up working throughout the summer and then nights and weekends all through highschool. I started out as the dishwasher but soon progressed to Prep Cook, Cook, and Head Chef and Night Shift Supervisor by the time I was seventeen. Tower Shores doesn't exist anymore it went from that to the Seaside Grill and now I think it's called Matt's Fish Camp or something. I don't think they have a website but they are listed in Google. I remember at one point me, my sister, step sister, step brother, two second cousins and my girlfriend (later became my wife) and my then great aunt all worked there. It was more like our family restaurant. If you wonder what my life was like from the ages of 13 to 17 then imagine living in a beach town serving city folks seafood. I remember o...

Doubting Thomas

Scriptural thought of the Day: Deuteronomy 32:7 " Remember the days of old; consider the years of past generations. Ask your father he can tell you;Your elders, and they will inform you." At first Glance: Reading the bible is personal. After reading the above text what  jumps out at you? I noticed the three things we should do. Research  or look at the past, Ask for help from your parents or guardians, Ask other older ones who have wisdom gained through experience. My question was ;"What's the context?" So I read the entire Chapter to see the surrounding verses to get a better understanding of who why and when was this research being done. What I learned was these were the instructions God was giving the nation of Israel through Moses. They had caused him much pain and displeasure. They had forgotten their God. He was reminding them who he was and what he was capable of. However, he wanted them to come to that conclusion not from what other people had to say but...

Heals the Brokenhearted

Discovery of the Day: I found a new document that confirms the dates of birth and death for Roger Ellwod O'Neal. I attached that to his file in my personal notes. I've added the source if you want to see the record. Scriptural thought of the Day: We have been going through a rough time lately and we've also been taking a closer look at the scriptures daily hoping to reinforce our faith. Today's daily text comes from: Isaiah 57:15  " For this is what the High and Lofty One says, Who lives forever and whose name is holy: “I reside in the high and holy place, But also with those crushed and lowly in spirit, To revive the spirit of the lowly And to revive the heart of those being crushed." I like looking up cross-references that aid in seeing how God truly feels about a subject. When you see the same thought several times it helps you see more clearly how God truly sees things. As Lofty as he is it is comforting to know that he cares for the broken hearted. Cross-...

That's the time you finally then decide to seek assistance. It's then and sometimes only then do you call the only other person you trust and if you truly feel alone in the world you might pray. Even if you are the kind a person who wonders is anyone truly listening. I read the Bible text for today and said to myself Let's just see if the daily text has an answer for what I'm going through or what to do next? Today's text was 1 Cor 3:7 there it reads "so that neither is the one who plants anything nor is the one who wat...

Stop and smell the roses!

Discovery of the Day: I found a new record to attach to my maternal grandmother's brother William Kim Whaley.  This gave another source confirming his date of birth.  Entertainment: I ranked No.16 in Total ranking  I OVERLOOKED AN ORCHID https://m.starmakerstudios.com/v/share-landing-page/detail?is_convert=true&pg_rf_ca_vn=230&rank_type=7&recording_id=4503599802372949&share_type=more Scriptural thought of the Day: Yesterday was a better day. It had its own anxiety but I was able to handle each problem and got through it. The thing I was so stressed out over is still there but it's looking to have a solution eventually.  I decided to see what the daily text had to say for today and tried to think about how it applies to me personally.   The text was from Ecclesiasties 9:6 "Better to enjoy what the eyes see than to wander after one’s desires. This too is futility, a chasing after the wind." At first glance I thought to myself your father in he...
